Adriano was born in Lecce, 5 January 1958 and he grew up in Naples. In 1975 Adriano met Chögyal Namkhai Norbu.
He was part of the original group of students who received the first Dzogchen teachings in 1976 at the Palestra in Via Palasciano, Naples.
In 1976 he joined the University of Oriental Studies in Naples where he graduated in 1983 with a thesis on the Dzogchen Bonpo text DRAN PA GSER GDAMS by gShen sras lha rje (13th century).
Since that time he started working on translations of Tibetan texts, mainly authored by Chögyal Namkhai Norbu. Apart from that he is also active as a musician.
Adriano Clemente is the main person who works for the Dzogchen Translation Project Complete Works of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu of the International Dzogchen Community. Adriano has started to translate Tibetan Teachings already in 1981. From 1993 until 2002 Adriano was the only full-time translator from Tibetan for the Dzogchen Community. In 2003 Adriano was asked by Chögyal Namkhai Norbu to join the team of the translators for the Ka-ter Translation Project, and since that time Adriano has, besides his so important translation work, also the responsibility to check all books of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu that are translated and published. The two main important translation cycles in the last years have been the translation of all books of the SANTI MAHA SANGHA training and of all books of the LONGSAL Teachings. Apart from all that, Adriano has supervised and continues to supervise all first editions of all books containing transcriptions of Rinpoche’s Teachings. He is the sole supervisor of far more than hundred titles and the co-supervisor of other titles.
